Overdue book reviews

As I promised when I first started this blog I was going to review the odd book here and there. Considering I love reading as a favourite past time. My main aim is two book reviews each week but that depends on university week and other things that go on in everyday life.
The two books that this review will contain are: The Summoning – Kelley Armstrong
                                                                                       Bloodline – Kate Cary

The Summoning – Kelley Armstrong

What is it about?
Chloe Saunders sees dead people. Yes, like in the films. The problem is, in real life saying you see ghosts gets you a one-way ticket to the psych ward. And at 15, all Chloe wants to do is fit in at school and maybe get a boy to notice her. But when a particularly violent ghost haunts her, she gets noticed for all the wrong reasons. Her seemingly crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for disturbed teens.
My thoughts
When I first picked up the book and looked at the cover I was not impressed, then I opened the book and from the first page to the last page I was hooked. Normally I read all the vampire fiction but this book was a nice break from it.  So we are pretty much introduced to the lead character from the get go. My first impression of Chloe was she was seen to be a normal girl who is at High School but that is not the case, because she start seeing ghosts, as her story progresses throughout the book we see more a development of the character and she learns to deal with her problem, we see her form new friendships to help her and the prospect of a romantic relationship (I am not the one to give news because my saying is if you want to know more with a book you have to open it and read it yourself)
Overall the book was quite enjoyable and a definite read if you want to get away the usual vampire fiction stories then I would totally recommend this book as I really enjoyed it. I am so going to get the next book of the series.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5
Bloodline – Kate Cary

What is it about?
This is the original vampire romance: go back to where the bloodlust began! When nineteen-year-old John Shaw returns from World War I, he is haunted by nightmares - not only of the horrors of battle, but of the brutal midnight exploits of his superior, Captain Quincey Harker. When Harker appears unexpectedly in England and lures John's sister, Lily, to Transylvania, John must confront the truth. Only the love of pure Mary can save him from Count Dracula's poisonous bloodline. But the line goes further than John and Mary can possibly imagine. A new seductive evil walks among the living...
My thoughts
I am so glad I made the decision to buy this book and read it. The whole book is AMAZING. The book is a unofficial sequel to Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula (who is my favourite fictional Vampire of all time and some of the actors who have played him have been really good looking however this is not the time to say anything relating to that) So with that in my mind I sat down for a good few days and read the book and I was hooked. As the above says it follows the story of John and his friends. The book itself is written in diary entries just as Dracula was, from different points of view of the book’s primary characters.
Overall the book was amazing, the characters were each of their own and clearly the author is in a league of her own with her style of writing. I brought the next one in the series today so after I have finished with Midnight it is next on my list. The last thing I would like to add is Quincey is love. J That is all.
Overall Rating: 5/5

More about the author?

Please check out both of the authors because they really are amazing. :)

Until next time.

: Man of the Moment :

I know things have been quiet on the blogging front, I was ill (Still no better) and I had a university report that I had to hand in.  So anyway so I was watching Casino Royale over the weekend and it has ignited the passion again that I have for Daniel '007' Craig.

I had to find one him being James Bond, I have no idea why spies turn me on, James Bond is just another one to add to the collection along with Adam Carter (Spooks/Mi5) and Jack Bauer (24) :D I think Daniel Craig can be redeemed for wearing the stupid dress and wig for International Woman's Day.

: Sending prayers :

So this morning the world woke up to the sad news that Japan has suffered a pretty bad earthquake, it was like 8.5 on the richer scale thing and the earthquake caused a pretty bad tsunami that has sent ripples throughout the Pacific Ocean and the waves could get up to six metres. I have a few friends over in the US and Australia and I am really concerned about them all. I have just heard that the death poll has now increased to the thousands. I feel that I should do something, like go out there or something.

: It is all calm on the quiet front :

Well as far as blogging is concerned. I am trying to limit the time I come on the laptop at the moment what with uni work and deadlines approaching at the moment, the blogging train has come to a stand still at the moment, I have things that I want to post however it will have to wait for weekend. I attend to do little work over the weekend. :P But I am still alive, just.
